Bloom After Birth FAQs
When should I book a Bloom After Birth appointment?
Many women choose to book from around six weeks after giving birth, following their GP check. However, it is never too late to attend, and women often benefit months or even years after pregnancy and birth.
How long is a Bloom After Birth appointment?
Appointments are typically around one hour, allowing time for a thorough assessment, discussion of symptoms and a personalised recovery plan.
Do I need to have an internal examination?
No. Internal examination is always optional and only performed with your consent. It can be helpful for assessing pelvic floor strength, coordination and tone, but rehabilitation can still be effective without it.
Can Bloom After Birth help after a caesarean section?
Yes. We regularly support women following caesarean birth, including scar sensitivity, abdominal strength, movement confidence and return to exercise.
Can Bloom After Birth help if I feel fine but want reassurance?
Yes. Many women attend for reassurance, education and guidance even if they are not experiencing pain.
Can Bloom After Birth help if symptoms started months or years after birth?
Yes. Pelvic floor symptoms, core weakness or pain can develop later. Postnatal physiotherapy can still be very effective even long after childbirth.
Can Bloom After Birth help with bladder leakage or urgency after birth?
Yes. Symptoms such as leakage, urgency or difficulty controlling the bladder are common after pregnancy and birth and often respond well to postnatal physiotherapy.
Can Bloom After Birth help with pelvic heaviness or prolapse symptoms?
Yes. Physiotherapy can help manage prolapse type symptoms, improve pelvic floor support and guide safe exercise and daily activities.
Can Bloom After Birth help me return to running or the gym?
Yes. We provide structured guidance for return to exercise and impact activity, based on strength, control and how your body responds rather than time alone.
Is Bloom After Birth covered by private health insurance?
Bloom After Birth sessions are not currently covered by private health insurance.
Do I need a referral to book?
No. You can self refer and book directly.
