What Does Physiotherapy Include?
Physiotherapy supports the diagnosis, treatment and long term management of pain, injury and movement problems. Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, physiotherapy looks at how your joints, muscles and nervous system work together during everyday activity, work and sport.
At Flex, physiotherapy can help to:
- Identify the underlying cause of pain or restricted movement
- Improve joint mobility, strength and control
- Support recovery following injury or surgery
- Manage long standing or recurring conditions
- Reduce the risk of future injury
- Help you return to work, sport and daily activities with confidence

Physiotherapy FAQs
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No. You can book directly without a GP referral.
What happens at my first physiotherapy appointment?
Your first session includes a detailed assessment and a clear explanation of your diagnosis. In many cases, treatment will begin during this appointment if time allows and it is clinically appropriate. Occasionally, treatment may start at a follow up session.
How long are physiotherapy appointments?
Initial appointments are typically 30 to 45 minutes. Follow up sessions are usually 30 minutes.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being assessed. Bring shorts if you are attending for a lower-limb assessment or treatment.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
This varies depending on your condition and goals. Some patients benefit from a short course of treatment, while others may be advised to book a block of 4 or 6 sessions for optimal recovery.
