Physiotherapy for Cuckfield Residents

Joint pain has a way of chipping away at the things you love, whether that is a walk through Cuckfield Park, an afternoon in the garden or a round of golf. At Flex Physiotherapy in Burgess Hill, roughly 5 miles south of Cuckfield, we specialise in finding the cause of persistent pain and treating it properly.

Our three clinical directors, Alex Kyriacou, Kieran Barnard and Matt Prout, are all Chartered Physiotherapists. They lead a core clinical team qualified up to Masters level, bringing experience from the NHS, private practice and elite sport.

Driving Down from Cuckfield

The journey to our Church Walk clinic is a straightforward 15 minute drive south for most Cuckfield patients. Free on-site parking sits at the back of the clinic on Crescent Way. If you find steps difficult, let reception know before your visit and we will advise on the easiest way in.

Arthritis and Long-Standing Joint Pain

Many Cuckfield patients come to us with knee pain or hip pain linked to osteoarthritis. Exercise-based physiotherapy is one of the most effective ways to manage osteoarthritis, and it forms the core of how we work.

Where exercise alone is not enough, we can offer further options at the same clinic:

Every injection is discussed and screened beforehand, and we will always be honest about whether it is likely to help you.
Digging, pruning and lifting heavy pots are common triggers for shoulder pain, tennis elbow and flare-ups of lower back pain. We will treat the pain, then build the strength you need so the next season in the garden does not set you back.
If you are waiting for a hip or knee replacement, building strength beforehand can make recovery smoother. After surgery, we provide structured rehabilitation and keep in contact with your consultant where needed. We already work with orthopaedic teams including the Spring Orthopaedic Group and Horder Healthcare.
Every clinician at Flex is HCPC registered, and our core clinical team are qualified up to Masters level, with backgrounds in the NHS, private practice and elite sport. The team stays actively involved in professional development, teaching physiotherapy students, clinical education and published work. Diagnostic ultrasound is also available on site, with a full written report.
A joint that becomes hot, red and very swollen without injury, or calf pain and swelling after surgery or a long period of rest, should be assessed by your GP promptly. These can signal infection or a blood clot.

Cuckfield Physiotherapy FAQs

Will physiotherapy help my arthritis?
For most people with hip or knee osteoarthritis, yes. Targeted strengthening and activity advice usually improve pain and function, and we will tell you if something else is needed.
Our ultrasound imaging and injection services are currently self-funded. If you have private medical insurance, please check with your insurer if you believe you may be eligible for reimbursement.
Yes. We design rehabilitation around your surgeon’s guidance and progress it as your strength returns.
We aim for continuity of care, so you will usually see the same clinician throughout your treatment.
