Physiotherapy for Hassocks, Keymer and Clayton

Hassocks sits right at the foot of the South Downs, and plenty of the people we treat from the village are walkers, runners and cyclists who want to keep using those hills. Flex Physiotherapy is around 3 miles north in Burgess Hill, one stop up the line from Hassocks station.

Our clinic is run by three Chartered Physiotherapists who set it up in 2019 to offer evidence-based, hands-on care to the Mid Sussex villages. You can book directly, with no GP letter needed.

Travelling from Hassocks to Our Burgess Hill Clinic

By car, the drive up Keymer Road usually takes around 10 minutes. Patients can use our free car park at the rear of the clinic on Crescent Way, which has three steps down into the building. You can also come in through our main entrance on Church Walk, on the pedestrianised High Street.

By train, it is a single stop from Hassocks to Burgess Hill, then about five minutes on foot to Church Walk. Local buses from Hassocks and Keymer also stop near the town centre.

Helping You Get Back on the Downs

Steep descents from Clayton Windmills or Wolstonbury Hill put a lot of load through knees and ankles, while long road climbs on the bike can aggravate the lower back and hips. We regularly treat:
Treatment is built around getting you back to the routes you enjoy. That might mean graded hill work, balance training on unstable surfaces or a change in how you build up your weekly mileage.

If you run the Downs or train for road races, our running assessments use video gait analysis to show how you move and where load is building up. For people returning from injury, force plate testing with VALD equipment measures strength and power on each side, so decisions about returning to running are based on data, not guesswork.

Between physio sessions, a sports massage can help manage tightness during heavy training blocks.

Some services are rarely found in independent clinics. Haywards Heath patients often come to us specifically for:
If you cannot put weight on your ankle or knee after a fall on the hills, have significant swelling straight away, or the joint looks out of shape, get it checked at a minor injuries unit or A&E first to rule out a fracture. Once that is cleared, we can take over your rehabilitation.
